DEDUPLICATE

Remove Duplicate CSV Rows

Deduplicate a spreadsheet export in seconds. Match complete records or choose a single field, such as an email address or order ID. Your CSV file never leaves this browser.

File processing runs in a separate editor frame. The advertising scripts on this page cannot read or modify the editor contents.

How to use this tool

  1. Paste CSV text or choose a CSV file from your device.
  2. Select Process once to detect its header columns, then choose Entire row or a particular key column.
  3. Choose whether matching should be case-sensitive, and keep the first occurrence of each key.
  4. Review the result and download a clean CSV file. Formula protection is enabled by default for spreadsheet use.
Privacy note: Your input is processed in your browser, not uploaded to our servers. The original file is never overwritten.

What the tool changes (and what it does not)

Duplicate means different things in different datasets. For a mailing list, two rows may be duplicates when their email addresses match even if their display names differ. For sales exports, matching all columns may be safer when the same customer has multiple orders. This tool offers both approaches without guessing which records you intended to keep.

The first matching row is retained and later matches are removed in their original order. Comparison ignores leading and trailing spaces. If case-sensitive matching is off, A@example.com and a@example.com count as the same key. Other fields are preserved unless you choose the separate CSV Cleaner tool.

Quoted commas and multi-line quoted values are supported, so a note such as "New York, NY" stays in one cell. Empty or malformed CSV input produces an explicit error rather than silently corrupting rows. Always check the preview before overwriting a valuable source file.

Frequently asked questions

Can I choose which column decides if a row is a duplicate?

Yes. Run the tool once to load available column names, then select the desired key column and run it again. Entire row matching is the default.

Does deduplication delete my original file?

No. The browser reads the selected file and creates a separate downloadable result. The original file on your computer is not changed.

What happens to duplicate rows?

The first row for each key is retained. Later rows with the same comparison key are removed. This makes the output deterministic.
